How we clean the air ducts...

For the home:

Two technicians will arrive at your home. Your furnace will be turned off during the process. Tarps will be laid on the floors, generally at the entryway to prevent any debris from being tracked in from outdoors. The technicians will wear protective covers over their shoes.

A powerful vacuum unit with an 8" hose will be set up outside your home and attached to your furnace. This creates negative pressure throughout the entire system as we work to evacuate debris within the system. Registers will be covered with masking tape or plastic sheeting to direct the entire vacuum to the register or duct feed that is being worked on at the time. The crew will clean the diffuser grills and the boots of the ductwork in each room. Access to the ductwork will be in several locations, usually in the basement or crawl space and will be sealed by NADCA standards. The specially designed air tools literally cover every inch as they move up and down the ductwork dislodging debris and pushing it towards the collection point.

Noise level for this process is reasonable but could agitate some pets. Chemical sanitizers may be applied for an additional charge but are not recommended if no known problems exist. Before leaving the technicians will turn your furnace on to make sure it is functional. The entire process of air duct cleaning takes approximately 3 to 4 hours for one furnace in an average three to four bedroom home.

Commercial Setting:

The required number of crew members to complete the project arrive on site and review safety procedures. Prior to starting work or setting up equipment, they will walk through the job and identify access points, hazards and other technical aspects of the job. Once the system is zoned into sections a negative air machine is attached to the system. This machine is either electric or gasoline powered depending on the type of facility and/or debris to be collected. At times, the technicians will actually enter the ductwork to facilitate a thorough cleaning. The actual methodology can vary greatly based upon the type of facility, access to system components, size of components and the sensitivity of the activity in the areas surrounding our work. A follow-up report of findings or recommendations is given upon completion of the project.
